Ode to Oxygen Park

It's only
a bit of land
in the heart
of the city

but it is profound
and even sacred
for it was polluted
and dangerous
whilst mad machines
terrified small children
usurped their playgrounds
to save a minute

we could not accept these perversions
as our children's lives are precious
so, in wrath
we excavated their asphalt
blocked the speeding danger
with the asphalt's heap
covered up the noxious substance
with friendly earth,
and covered up the pile
and liberated land,
with greenest grass

now it's here
for all to see
to play and eat
or just pass through
where months before
only crazy taxis flew.
