Robert Silverman Poems - Family Poems
My mother's marriage

I would not like
to have been my ma
enslaved for life
to my pa.
Promised a life
of wealth beyond belief
instead, she got unbearable grief.
Assured a life of a queen,
soon, she had to guard a witch
who could not be seen,
lured to become a gangster's wife;
she never really had a life.
